TRISTAN G. SMITH: The HistorySmith
Utilizing the written word and visual art for storytelling.

I am an independent historian living in Houston, Texas. I have worked for museums and nonprofits in Kansas, Missouri, and Texas for more than twenty-five years and have extensive experience in marketing, fundraising, curatorial, education, volunteer, management and administrative capacities. I have been involved with museums that feature natural history, the 1950s, interdisciplinary approaches to art and the humanities, community history, a sunken Missouri River steamboat found in a Kansas cornfield, a U.S. president, and firefighting history. I have also consulted organizations and municipalities in historic preservation. I am the author of "Images of America: Houston Fire Department" (Arcadia Publishing, 2015), "A History Lover's Guide to Houston" (History Press, 2020), "Historic Cemeteries of Houston and Galveston" (History Press, 2023), "A History Lover's Guide to Galveston" (History Press, 2024), "Treasures of Texas: National Historic Landmarks of Texas" (Schiffer Publishing, 2025), "A History Lover's Guide to Lawrence" (History Press, 2025), and numerous articles for Authentic Texas: The Heritage Magazine of Texas.
